At the beginning of my career, I did not worry too much about high paying jobs.

I thought all I wanted to do was get into a software company. Build some kick-ass software products. And someday I will get my returns on investment.

But that never happened.

I was working for a software company since 1995. I was also making some kick-ass products. But I was drawing a salary that was mediocre at best for software engineers.

Yes in India as a Software Engineer, I was earning better than my peers in other industries. But within the software fraternity, I was miserable.

Moreover, I was not alone.

Every software engineer feels that he is not getting paid adequately. They hear stories about other software engineers really getting paid a very high salary.

Then in 2008, I realized something.

Why I was not getting high paying jobs?

I was working on technology that everyone else was working on. I was doing project where the supply of engineers was huge. That means no company was going to give me an increase in salary for doing what I had been doing.

In 2017 Mr. Mohandas Pai (Ex-COO Infosys) revealed how software companies in India were keeping salaries low.

It is a supply and demand problem.

The colleges and universities have the same curriculum for software engineers. So all the engineers are learning the same thing.

Over that some 2 Million Software Engineers are added to the workforce every year.

With that kind of supply, you have to do something to differentiate yourself from others.

I had to change my focus. I had to stop focusing on low paying jobs that everyone is trying to get into. And start focusing on high paying jobs that only few people can attempt.

What is required for the Highest paying Jobs in Software?

That is when I started focusing on High Paying Jobs. I researched about high paying jobs in news and magazines and google.

Then I realized that there was a different world out there for the highest paying jobs in software.

You need to focus on technology. Technology is always changing. So any technology that is in demand today will pay a high salary.

You need to focus on the company. Companies are always innovating. So any company that is innovating today will pay a high salary.

You need to focus on skills. Skills need to be upgraded continuously. So any skill that is new today will pay a high salary.

What happens when you have the highest paying job in the world?

When I started looking into this it did not take my salary to jump. I was able to increase my salary by 32 times within a span of 8 years. Every two years I was able to get a financial promotion.

The best part was I was able to save a lot of money that I did not do for thirteen years of my professional career.

Just imagine if you get an extra Rs 50,000 per month that you can put into a recurring savings account. At the end of 10 years, you will have this kind of balance.
